I finished Raya Lucaria Academy a few hours ago. It wasn't too bad, honestly, at least once I figured out the optimal strategy for dealing with the various enemies, many of whom are resistant to magic attacks. Rock Sling would have been ideal in most scenarios, but the corridors were often too cramped for it to be viable. Instead, I opted for a combination of glintstone pebble, dodging, and using the +9 rapier I got from Rogier at the Roundtable Hold.
One of the toughest fights is, I assume, that room with four or five mages and the giant pot, but I was able to take out all of the mages from a distance with rock sling because the opening to the room was wide enough for it to work, which just left the pot to deal with. He almost got me with this spin attack that closed the distance a lot quicker than I expected, but I was able to get away with a little health left, recharge, and beat him down with magic.
The fight in the next room with the staircase was a lot tougher, mostly because there were more enemies in the room than I first realized, and I almost got overwhelmed. The Red Wolf of Radagon was next, but with my wolves to distract him, I got him on the first try. Rock sling did a ton of damage to him, and then I just had to dodge until his aggro switched back to the wolves.
I got some neat new Burger King masks to wear around, too.
The Carian Knight was kind of a bitch. I figured out a strategy for dealing with him through two rounds of trial and error. He would either dodge or block my frontal attacks with his shield, which either dealt no damage or so little that I didn't notice it, but if I let him get to middle distance and cast rock sling, he'd typically roll toward me to start a combo. He'd get a hit in, usually, but he'd roll in front of the rocks I'd just pulled from the ground and they'd proceed to slam into his unprotected back, interrupting his combo so I could roll away. Once he swapped his shield for a staff, I found out the hard way in the first fight that his magical sword attacks were devastating at close range, so I fell back and used ambush shard to finish him off.
Rennala I didn't find to be all that difficult. Got her on my second try. The first try I got sort of screwed by being a ranged fighter, as I found it goddamn impossible to lock onto Rennala when her shield dropped because of all the other enemies crawling around the ground. The first two times I got her shield down I barely did any damage because I couldn't get her targeted with my rock sling. After that, I just switched to my sword and stabbed the shit out of her. It ended up taking me five or six rounds, and I was out of health potions by the end because I kept getting pummeled by that tombstone barrage attack she does once per round. I made it to the second half of the fight, but the delay on her beam attack baited me into dodging too early and she got me.
The second round I knew what to do, and I was able to hide or dodge the tombstones when she threw them at me. I got her in four rounds, and the fourth she only took one hit, which gave me the opportunity to summon my wolves. I summoned them in the first fight too at the beginning, but found they were pretty worthless and they died well before phase two. Phase two was easy this time around, as I had two health potions left and my wolves to keep her aggro. Just hammered her with rock sling in between her attacks.
Not sure what my next move is. I guess to go activate her rune. Any suggestions on what area to go to next?
