Fedor is reporting that the Cavs are insisting on a first round pick and won't trade him just to trade him. However, Thompson wants to be traded and the "people around him" consider it to be a "priority". Sounds like he really wants to get on a playoff team rather than playing 30 meaningless games and going home.
So what if it comes down to Thursday afternoon with the clock ticking and no first round pick to be had? Will the Cavs back down and take a pair of 2nds or something other than a first rounder? Any first round pick we get for Thompson will almost certainly be near the end of the round. But Cedi Osman was the 31st pick. You can get a useful player there. You can't get anything worthwile at the end of the second round in four years out of five (just guessing on that), so I can see the Cavs holding out for that first rounder.
Fedor says there are at least three teams that can use him so I suppose there's a chance somebody caves. Hey, maybe if we throw in Garland and Sexton?
