Which player are you most excited about? Which will have the largest impact on winning?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Lauri Markkanen assuming they use him as a sixthman. We haven't had any consistent scorers off the bench since we dealt Clarkson. If they start Markkanen then my answer changes to Rubio. Rubios defense and playmaking should make who ever plays with him better.

Guards have usually the most impact on winning, so its gotta be Garland.

Most excited for Lauri, but that's just bc he's from my homeland. Overall the bigs rotation with Cavs will be quite interesting to see how it turns out.

So are you a cavs fan or Lauri fan?

If you are a cavs fan that has to be an awesome feeling when they trade for a player from your homeland. Either way, welcome.

I'm most excited about Mobley, though my expectations are tempered by the fact he's a 19-year old big man. I think the players who will have the biggest impact on winning, or lack thereof, will be Okoro, Windler, and Cedi. Sexton and Okoro managed only 2.5 made threes a game, combined, last year and that's your starting SG and SF. Windler and Cedi managed 2.5 made threes a game, combined, last year. That's not going to get it done in the modern NBA. You need to average no less than 8 made threes between your starting and backup wings. That's 2 per player per night on average.

Excited to see year 4 of Sexton. He looks bigger and definitely has something to prove.

Another vote for Sexton. Interested to see whether he takes more of a leadership role. At the very least. I'm hoping he finds a way to start silencing his critics.

All of this...

It's gonna be interesting, how he takes the next step this upcoming season. After Collin it's Lauri,Mobley,Stevens and Pangos...

this is the year he puts it together.
That's basically what Preston says in this article. He says he learned a lot from his time with Cleveland and is trying to get back. So, there is that. Plus, he shot better from three in his various games here or there for someone to claim he's the solution to our 3pt problem.

Thanks for the update on your son, Mrs. Preston. I hope he finds his way back to the NBA.

Ozarks, the Wiz of Oz is one of those "all-in" on Sexton so he has to be "all-out" on Garland. Zero sum is all we play here.
Not all out on Garland as a player but I am pretty far out on him staying in Cleveland since he is the one player on this roster who might get the Cavs a legit SF that was recently drafted and their best chance to do it is now. Waiting until Garland comes back to earth will end that option quick. You know Sexton is playing for a payday and aint giving up usage for the sake of make perimeter wings who cannot shoot get more shots up. Garland starts the season in CLE he will have to come out blazing like mini Steph to raise his stock any higher than its current inflation rate.
Do you think he is going to be that guy after the year 2 rise or was that just him getting healthy and he is who he is?
I get why some may be against moving him now, but imo if not now when? We already see how fast Sexton dropped in value going into extension negotiations wanting big bucks and everyone trying to fleece Koby.

I'm super high on Mobley and Okoro. Those are the only two cards I'd keep real tight to my vest in any deal.
I agree that Garland, paired with the '22 pick and say, Rubio's contract could be a pretty strong trade chip, but I wouldn't trade it for just any SF and I don't know that you have a viable option to trade him for.. plus your PG spot would be absolutely wiped out with that move which would negatively effect Mobley and Okoro's development as the ball wouldn't move at all.
Simmons/Milton for Garland/Love/'22 pick works on paper, but probably need a 3rd team and a ton of faith in Ben Simmons turning things around offensively. (though a Sexton/Okoro/Simmons/Mobley/Allen line up would win some regular season games and be a pretty good fastbreak group.)

LOL. If that kid were my son, I'd make him hold down a job -- any job -- for at least six months before I let him try out for a basketball team again. I get that sometimes you are brought in to a team for a few games because of injuries etc and the circumstances are against you for latching on for any length of time, but he never has stayed at a place for very long, even going back to high school. For a guy with his talent playing at places that are desperate for talent, that suggests he needs to work on all the normal "how to start at the bottom, work hard, show up on time, do the grunt jobs, and listen to the boss" parts of holding a job before he can succeed.

My feeling is you trade him alone with a pick swap maybe even a protected pick swap if its to a team that is projected in the 20's over the next couple seasons for a rookie or 2 that are not proven but have much better fit and are harder to find but are less needed on the team they are coming from and were basically picked as trade ships anyway. Example:
Rubio and Pangos are more than adequate in the near term to cover for Garland exit and if the Toronto deal was reasonable Barnes playmaking and Flynn easily cover the loss.
or Garland Stevens 22 first top 14 protected pick swap to GSW for Kuminga and Moody 2nd

sexton for me as well. He has taken a step up in every year. He knows aspects of his game that he is weak in and works on them
This year I look for more threes and better passing/assists
I think the passing from allen, mobley and rubio and sextons speed will result in some easy hoops and ft's
Plus....big money year for him
