Trade Deadline Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm confused.

He's saying Kip isn't a leadoff hitter long-term. Which is also what I'm saying.

Unless he doesn't agree with Kip not being a long-term leadoff hitter.

That's precisely what he said. He doesn't agree with the sentiment that Kipnis isn't our long-term lead-off hitter.

I'm with sgm. I think Kipnis is great in that spot. He's a pretty ideal lead-off hitter IMO.

How long has Kipnis been in the majors? Is he still hurt?

How is this bit doing? Wearing thin or still fresh?

Any feedback appreciated.

Yeah I think Kipnis has found his home in the leadoff spot. Obviously he's talented enough to hit lower, but I like where he's at.

A few notes from Jon Heyman:

- The Braves are still shopping Cameron Maybin and Jim Johnson
- The Reds are shopping Jay Bruce
- The Brewers are "somewhat likely" to trade Carlos Gomez

Carlos Gomez in center field instead of Michael Bourn would be nothing short of fantastic. He's also right handed and under team control until 2017.

Not sure what Milwaukee would want though. Aramis Ramirez is retiring after the season. Maybe persuade them with Chisenhall. :chuckle:

I'm guessing it would take at least one elite prospect. Clint Frazier might fit the bill. From there they'd probably have to add a starting pitcher. They might like Chisenhall or Ramirez too, although obviously not as a centerpiece.

One thing to keep in mind is the Indians payroll is projected to be between $90-100 M right now for 2016 without any additions.

Anybody in center field instead of Michael Bourn would be nothing short of fantastic.

Trade Santana, Frazier and Murphy for him. If the Pads have a leadoff hitter get him by throwing in Kipnis.

That's far too much for a 2 or 3 month rental, which is what Upton would be. If we're giving up Frazier go after Gomez, who they'd control this year and next, and hope Zimmer is ready by 2017.

Hell, Zimmer is already in Akron and I just saw he had a very nice game. He might be ready by June of next year if he keeps this pace up.
