Agreed. Cleveland isn’t a destination and he’ll be a good soldier for a couple months before wanting out. At least Love is very passive/aggressive and for the most part stays quiet.Ben is very good at transition offense and against weak defenses. He’s also an excellent defensive player.
His half court game against good defense ranges from barely acceptable to atrocious. He plays well “downhill” but not “uphill”.
He also has no interest in working on his game or pushing himself in game against opposition. He can smash the easy button. Classic underachiever.
IMHO he would be a disaster on our team for cultural reasons alone, but our spacing is worse than Philly’s and Cleveland is an even less desirable location for a socialite than Philly.
The one big advantage the Cavaliers have as a destination for Ben is that the fan base will put up with a lot more bullshit than many other cities and especially Philly. Nevertheless I don’t think it will take more than two years for Cleveland to get tired of him.
A shame, really, because if Simmons had half of Sexton’s drive he‘d be an MVP candidate because his athleticism and other gifts are top end.
Unfortunately Simmons would be a ticking time bomb here thus he is not worth the assets that they would have to give up to get him.
