1st: Nate Solder has never come close to sniffing a Pro Bowl.
2nd: Of all the things to care about, penalty yardage is about 12th on the list.
3rd: They are equally graded on PFF this year, and Nate Solder has been significantly worse at giving up sacks.
I think Greg Robinson stinks and if you can upgrade from him, then I have no problem doing it. But Nate Solder sucks and is not an upgrade at all. And since leaving Coach Scar, he's been fucking terrible, as many predicted.
Well fortunately he was a pro bowl alternate in 2017, so wrong.
On top of that, penalty yardage being that low on your list is asinine. Considering it puts you in horrible down and distance situations on a regular basis, it should probably be one of the top things you should be looking to minimize.

....So does getting sacked....
Thanks.
Solder allowed 7 total sacks last year.
Only 1 sack and 13 pressures over his last 8 games.
Why do you keep citing last year? He's been horrible this season.
Because last year has a much larger sample size to project into this year.
He started last year terribly too allowing 6 sacks and 20 pressures over his first 8 and still was better than Greg Robinson.

"So far, through 7 weeks of the 2019 NFL season, Nate Solder has allowed 5 sacks and a whopping 26 pressures. That means that Nate Solder is letting his man get to the quarterback at an average around 4 times per game. To put this in perspective, Nate Solder allowed a total of 33 pressures through the entire 2018 season."
The New York Giants Offensive Line Rebuild Is NOT Complete
The New York Giants are coming off of a crushing loss to the Arizona Cardinals in week seven. The Giants gave up 8 sacks to the Cardinals' defense. The most notable sacks came on crucial third and fourth downs late in the game to officially hand the Giants their third loss in a row. I admit it...empiresportsmedia.com
Listen, if the cost were a 5th, I'd be willing to roll the dice on Solder. You pay him his $2.9m to close out the season, shake his hand and wish him well after the final game of the season.
But to give up a 2nd or a 3rd to get Solder for the final 9 (8 may be more realistic) games of the season? Knowing how poorly Solder has played this year? Knowing this team will more likely than not be 2-5 on Monday morning? That is wasteful spending.
