2019 MLB Trade Deadline

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
My take on it:

If you're expecting the Indians to buy big for this season, you'll be disappointed.

I wouldn't be surprised if we bought small for this season, or bought medium-to-big for the next couple years.

I don't think we sell Bauer, but I can see why it would happen.

I'd be shocked if we sold Hand.

From what I understand, our organization is pretty tight-lipped regarding leaks, so it's pretty much just us spitballing.

Yeah, I certainly don’t expect them to pull off any blockbuster deals, especially because there isn’t anyone available who’s worth a haul outside of Merrifield. Having said that, it would be an absolute travesty if they fail to add at least someone to put in the middle of the order like Castellanos, Puig, Domingo Santana, etc. We were told in the off-season that there would be money available to use at the deadline if the team was in contention, and low and behold here are now.

I thought it was well known we were standing pat unless BLOWN AWAY with an offer, no?

With the recent talk of SF Giants, Reyes Moronta would be a perfect fit for the bullpen

Not that the Indians are probably interested in trading a haul for a reliever, but the bullpen is lacking a high end fastball

The Indians simply cannot make the mistake of thinking this offense is fine now and stand pat at the deadline. And adding another average bat to the team really doesn't do a whole lot.

To me, the best way to get the help we need is to deal Bauer. Now, I'm not advocating giving him away. It'd have to be a haul, and it'd have to include a legit ML bat.

If we don’t have Bauer, I’d put our chance of winning anything at near zero.

Need to find another way.

Eh, if Kluber comes back at full strength, Kluber Bieber Clevinger is a damn good top 3.

I just don't think this organization gambles on that this year. If we were healthy with Kluber and Cookie here, I think Bauer would be much more likely to be moved.

I agree, but I’d put the odds of Kluber getting back anywhere near full strength at near zero, which is why I said what I originally said

If the Indians were running away with the division like last year, I'd be much more comfortable trading Bauer

Below are Bauer's scheduled starts after the deadline

Sat Aug 3 vs. LAA
Thurs Aug 8 @ MIN
Tues Aug 13 vs. BOS
Sun Aug 18 @ NYY

Plesac and Plutko do not exactly exude consistency from start to start. Trading Bauer would be putting a lot of trust in Danny Salazar and/or Corey Kluber coming back soon and hitting the ground running immediately

To me, our chance of winning anything at this point are near zero.

I'd prefer another way as well, but to me it's the best chance we have at getting an ML bat that will make the difference we need.

All I'm saying is I'd rather deal Bauer to get that bat as opposed to standing pat.

I don’t agree that our odds are near zero as we stand today.

I’d rather stand pat than trade Bauer during this season.

Fangraphs updated odds put the Indians at 3.4% to win the World Series. That’s up 1% since last week. Not good, but with as hot as the team has been you have to try to play this one out.

I think you have to hang onto Bauer this season since Carrasco very easily could not be back and we have no clue what we're going to get out of Kluber this season.

Bieber, Clevinger, Plesac isn't enough to get you through the postseason if Kluber/Cookie have worst-case outcomes. Not counting on Salazar giving us anything either.

I'd try to snag a solid bat like Castellanos, D. Santana, etc.

As of right now, I think we can trust Lindor, Ramirez, Santana, Mercado, Perez, Luplow (vs. LHP), and hell, maybe even Naquin to not kill us. Bullpen has been better than expected. Add one more solid bat without giving up a big piece, and we're really in business I think.

Of the chances of winning are zero, then moving Bauer is a no brainer for the right offer.
