2022 NBA Draft Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm digging Max Christie. Add him to my list. 6'6 SG that can shoot, dribble, pull up, escape dribble into a midrange. Mother & Father both played Collge Basketball.

That shot fake is going to embarrass some pros

Christie is on my do not draft list. You can’t just watch the highlights with him. He’s not all that good at anything right now. He’s even shooting it really poorly.

I know Markkanen has been in the starting lineup because they're making the best of the current roster but is he a long-term fit there?

Reason I bring that up is I know we've been focused on acquiring a two-way SF to slide Okoro in at the SG, or another 3&D wing, but what if the Cavs view the big lineup as an advantage? That opens up the options for a potential 2-guard in this class, with requisite size and defensive ability.. In that scenario, I think you move Okoro and Sexton both to bench, or have one start next year with plan to have the rookie start the following year...

Just something else to think about but this class seems to be prime for the picking regardless of 2 or 3...

He currently shoots 33% from the field and 26% from 3. Doesn't rebound or pass and has very low stl+blk.

I mean... he can improve, but so far he has been trash...

I blame the new ball. :chuckle:

I’ll admit I didn’t look at his stats. Just looked at videos. The bottom line is, if the Cavs are not in the top 10, we can’t afford to nitpick these young teenagers to death. Gotta see the potential in them. I’m just not trying to fall in love with the higher level prospects as I don’t know if the Cavs are going to be there.

That’s true. I only seen two videos. I need to watch some live games.

If the Cavs aren’t in the top 10. What are some prospect people are looking at here? The players I’m posting now is probably going to be in that range.

Keegan Murray, Nikola Jovic, Ousmane Dieng?

Tbh, this draft seems top heavy to me, so far.

At the end of the day it's as much about what avenues are available to us as much as what the ideal plan is, but the nice thing about Markkanen is that he's got the flexibility to do both for us. He can play the 3 with Mobley and Allen covering up for him, or he can slide down to the backup big and we can run a 3 man big rotation with the 96 mins split between the three of them. My ideal though would be for the latter, if we could just get someone with nearly the same size but more mobility and playmaking from the 3.

Oh, I like them too. It's top-heavy sprinkled with talent all throughout, IMO.

You want a sleeper, let me introduce you to 6’7” SG/SF Bryce McGowens from Nebraska:
I like Bryce - I watch Nebraska a lot because I watch Keisei Tominaga. Bryce is good at being able to create his shot and is able to create fouls and goes strong. He is a good leader too.

I mentioned before but I really like Keisei. I know he’s small but I’ve been watching him since high school in Japan and he was able to score 50-60 points in a game because he shoots like Steph Curry. He has been so nervous and that is why his stats are so bad this season but he excelled tonight. I don’t think Keisei will ever be a first round pick but he will have a role like Seth Curry for sure.

I think what this team needs most (6'7+" scoring SF/SG -- the Paul George archetype) is in abundance in this draft, from the top 5 through to the early part of round 2. I don't think we'll be "bad" enough to get Jabari Smith, but I do think we'll have some good players to pick from whenever we do pick.

As long as they're 6'7+", can shoot, score and play D, I don't really care what position he plays.

Keegan Murray has been playing very well for Iowa, older sophomore at 21. Iowa hasn't played too many teams, but they've been dominate. They play #2 Purdue/#19 ISU coming up.

Playing unranked UVA tonight.

Will be interested to see how Keegan plays against the ranked teams.

Edit:
His twin, Kris, isn't too shabby himself, while Keegan is far ahead.

He's not a 2022 prospect because he's too young, but he may legitimately be a surefire #1 guy except for the fact that he's in the same draft as Wembanyama. Insane what he's doing at that age.

EJ Liddell is a guy that I would love to see us target with our 2nd rounders, even if it means packaging both of them to move into the 20's to get him. Great defender who is short for his position but has really long arms (had a great block on Branchero tonight) and good defensive instincts and timing. His offensive game has continued to evolve and I think he can eventually hit NBA three pointers and have some SF/PF versatility. Massive future/leader guy as well going all the way to HS in a very competitive Chicago basketball circuit
