23 Offseason GM Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We still need to clear a roster spot for Gallagher. I hate to DFA a kid for a journeyman catcher.
Any nominations? Trades?

There are two / three guys who may be best served to be placed onto the 60 day IL.. opening a spot on the 40 man roster.. it's a delay/kicking of the can down the road toward the inevitable.. Who knows..it might end up being Gallagher that is released when the time comes..

Only Morris seems to fit a 60 day IL spot IMO and that is a bit iffy I think. Unsure on how injured Valera is though.

Axing Bilous makes the most sense, maybe a last minute trade?

Yet this fantastic organization saw Arias as the main target in that trade. Go figure.
Arias was hardly the target. At best he was the fourth piece.

Naylor...top 100 prospect, with MLB experience.
Quantrill...top 50 SP prospect with MLB experience.
Hedges...elite defensive catcher under control for multiple years.

Those were the main targets. Miller in AA, Cantillo in A, Arias in A+ were the pot sweeteners.

your guess is worthless.. too bad YOU came to that idiot conclusion about Stott...

So a guy who is going into his second season and was one of the top 50 prospects is behind Arias when it comes to their choices for 3B?

They also have Josh Harrison in camp plus Scott Kingery so I don't think they will be trading for Arias any time soon. Plus Cleveland isn't going to be trading Arias right now anyways...

Next, if they were willing to trade Arias, they would have to likely get an overpay to even think about a deal.

Marchan makes sense... They have a bunch of left handed throwers, Falter? Then Rajos?

That would fit the narrative... Arias for Marchan, Falter and Rajos?

Then who is taking Arias' roster spot on the bench? Oh wait, we really don't have anyone to since Freeman isn't really that good at 3B and doesn't have a arm for SS... We go backwards trading Arias, so he isnt available...

Would rather just keep Arias, run him out there and see what they got instead.

Hmm...

We have 22 position players and 18 pitchers, so we would like to move a position player on paper, but all of them that we have left are legitimate prospects/players...

Morris may hit the 60 day DL depending on how long they think he's out for. (I would do 60 day DL if possible). Hentges is going to the 15 day DL and the pitching staff is already set...

If Morris is just going to the 15 day DL then it's likely Bilous who is the most on the roster bubble of anyone. I did say maybe Tena for a near ready SP prospect/a good lefty reliever with team control, but no one seemed to like that idea lol. That would be the last possibility of a guy like Tena or Palacios for a prospect...

I 100% agree with you on this one... Trading Arias makes absolutely no sense to me right now. If we really wanted a Marchan, we should have done it before spring started since BTV has him as pretty much worthless...

Nobody (Freeman, Arias, anyone) is going to play 3B for the Guardians not named Ramirez.. another "twisted into a pretzel" idiot logic result.. give it up..

The Marchan / Falter / Rojas deal just needs to have Rojas replaced with Crawford or a third team.. otherwise.. this isn't going anywhere.. With Crawford and another prospect or two from the Guardians.. there's a chance that is a deal worth consideration...

They aren't giving up Crawford for Arias straight up let alone adding other prospects/players... So it's not going anywhere...

Another guy available lol

Hiura is available... bench player?

Oh hey, look who's not only talking out his ass again, but is too lazy to even spend 15 seconds to check what he's gonna say before he writes it!

Arias was the headliner of the trade, and there are countless posts on this forum saying as such. There are even some from people saying he's close to being the #1 prospect in our organization after acquiring him.

The search feature on RCF is fast and easy. You should try using it next time.

So, in response to you so arrogantly stating Arias was at best the fourth piece in the deal, I call Bull Fucking Shit.

But hey, if you're that misinformed, it makes sense why you're so low on Arias.

Arias isn't his type of player though either... Arias is potential and power while CATS is more for contact and batters patience. Cats is a small ball type of baseball person. Arias doesn't fit his style and on paper that profile doesn't have a much higher bust rate.

(Don't forget Cats got to see Ty Cobb play! Lol)

Arias was the best "talent" in that trade, but he wasn't the main piece since that was a quantity move. Naylor was the "main piece" with Quan and Hedges being help as well now. I wouldn't say there actually was a main piece. I mean Miller and Cantillo where the worst two in the deal on paper. Miller at worst is a utility man who will have a job most seasons for awhile...
