Schefter updating the 10 yr extension: $450MM with $140MM injury guarantee.
Other reports are that it clears the half-billion mark, and is almost all guaranteed. No-trade clause as well.

I read it the way you did the first time through. Then I remembered its one of her most common phrases in her reporting.Ah then nope I just read it wrong if you're right. I just assumed she meant the Bears front office because they appear to be trying to construct a team composed entirely of tight ends.
(Pat is worth more than that, if we're being honest)

11M is a lot more of an attractive trade piece than 15M. No way someone would take that if we had to move him.
Does it reduce his cap hit, though? There had to be justification for the new terms from the Browns' perspective. We knew they weren't releasing Vernon and that he'd be on this team in some capacity this season.Vernon's 15.25M was fully non-guaranteed. Anyone acquiring him could have cut him at any time without owing him a dollar.
He was a much more valuable trade piece before today IMO. This decision almost 100% locks Vernon into being one of the Browns starting EDGE defenders in 2020.

Huh?
There were plenty of people here thinking we'd cut him if we had a better option.
This move appears to be us committing to Vernon as being our option. The Clowney dream is likely dead.
