Lauri clanked a couple open 3s early off Sexton passes. Not his fault the Finn played like a pussy in the first half.

That drive and kick to Lauri and that no look to Allen were both good. Let's see him build on that.

I saw him crowd both Mobley and Darius at times looking to get the ball when he should have moved to the open space at a better angle to get the pass, instead he made it so both defenders were between them. He has to stop that . Go around Mobley, use your quickness and get open, then they will get you the ball.

Just missed some cuts that could have been good.

Plenty of defensive mistakes, but that was true for everyone.

I get that Sexton is gonna be graded harshly every game this season because he's the current scapegoat for why the team isn't good.

But if getting blocked once at the rim by JJJ is his lone bad play then he played the way everyone wants him to and kept the ball moving.

If he had Garland's closing 2 minutes then people would be losing their minds in this thread about how Sexton cost us the game.

He didn't guard Morant well but neither did Garland or Rubio. That's just kinda life in the NBA against great offensive players sometimes. They score no matter what.
It wasn't just Morant, he literally forgets opposing players shoot 3's.

Sounds personal.

You, ok?
I'm fine thank you. I do think some of the posts in here are a bit childish though.
A few come in here solely to scapegoat Sexton for Garland's perceived lack of development..
Ja is a hell of alot better than Garland (or Sexton). What is incorrect about that statement? You could put anyone in the backcourt with Morant and he would shine. That is apparently not the case with our guards.

There is a discussion happening literally right now about DG the PG and Morant in two other threads.

In this thread, there is some really good constructive breakdown of Collin's game from last night in which he guarded Morant a bunch (I felt he had the right attitude about it but got penalized by some "no touching" officiating, outside of that stupid rip-through where Collin's got to be smarter) and he allowed Melton to have all day to shoot set perimeter shots quite a bit when Collin would lose him while ball watching.

Darius Garland and Collin Sexton play two entirely different positions with styles and mentalities that simply don't need to be compared anymore.

I don't believe it's childish to admit that those two styles are a impediment to both guys growth and ability to contribute to winning and I don't see many posts doing that in this thread outside of you and my bff Rich.

It's crazy to see guys openly rooting for the demise of players on our team simply because they've taken an opposite stand. I'm reaching out as a strong DG over Collin in the starting lineup advocate to say...

PS. I HATED Tristan over JV in '11 AND Waiters over Drummond in '12 as I felt both picks limited the growth/development potential for Kyrie. I remember after one particularly bad Kyrie showing against Calderon (he used to get in Kyrie's ass btw) I came on the board ready to sacrifice Dion and Tristan both at the "let my PG grow" altar. So I'm not typing this hypocritically, I was in that sunken place hating a few Cav players before.

Come to the light, Tripper. Step away from the Collin vs DG debate man

A championship later and I still hate TT over JV.

TT was the correct center for lebron though. And i bet 2016 won't happen if tristan is not switchable enough on defense.

If you look at individual players, JV wins. But the fit to the championship team? TT fits the mold.

JV over TT means we don't have to make the Mozgov trade, thus keeping 2 1st round picks as more ammo for other moves.

I'm not arguing the results. I just think Kyrie would've fared better with a different big man.

There was a point in time while I was especially in that sunken place where if I had met Jon from VA or a couple other RCF'ers who took delight in my "TT over JV" and "Mike Brown rehired over competent coaching" pain, I would have fought them ON SIGHT.

No introductions, handshakes or pleasantries... just squared up with them on sight :chuckle:

@Jon I know you're reading this. We're good now brother.

Just saying, but if you ever feel the need to come at me because of my hatred of DG, feel froggy and leap ;)

Been my complaint about the board for a season.

Garland made 3 straight bad plays that effectively ended the game.

If that had been Sextons last two minutes this thread would be on fire demanding a trade.

Garlands thread still doesn't have a post in it though since Monday.

Meh... the organization has settled this already for me. You can live to irrationally hate the best pure Cavs PG prospect we've had since Mark Price and Terrell Brandon from the comfort of your home.

I think we share a dislike for the Klutch agenda more than DG, so we should work together to root for them to lose their current battle against Philly's org. By the time we talk extension with them for DG, they will be preparing for the next summer's CBA and will probably want a painless negotiation for a guy who's not even top 10 on their client pecking order.

Go fire up the stake for him there, and I'll be right over. I've got time while traveling this afternoon.
