I'd actually prefer Pham but the key thing is the side of the plate they hit from, which makes Eddie a no-go. We have enough lefties to choose from with Zimmer, Palacios, Kwan, Jones, Naylor, and Johnson.Certainly respect your opinion KS, but I don't share your enthusiasm for Cutch. He's 35 and trending in the wrong direction. Pham will be 34 for the 22 season and is not as good as McCutchen. Just my take. Sadly, they both are significant upgrades to what we have, but not what I would like to see. I'd rather resign Eddie Rosario if possible.
Pham was very good in xwOBA which suggested his downturn last 2 years was due to luck rather than actual contact made. Over his career, Pham has been extremely consistent in that stat: .351, .328, .375, .379, .355, .350, .354. I'd factor in some age effect but I also would expect his "bottom-line" numbers to be significantly better than the last 2 years.
